Construction Companies: Why Group CPR Training Matters

CPR training for construction companies works best when the whole crew is trained together on site. Heart Starters Inc. brings WSIB-approved CPR and first aid training directly to your Burlington yard, trailer or jobsite, so your team never has to travel to a classroom.

Every session needs a minimum of 10 people, which suits most site teams. Book group CPR training for your team now.

Why Does CPR Training Matter On a Construction Site?

A construction site is not an office. Crews are spread across floors, trades, and shifts, and the people closest to an emergency are almost always their coworkers. If someone collapses, those coworkers are the first responders until help arrives.

Training only one or two supervisors leaves gaps. The trained person may be off shift, on another level or at another location when it counts. When the whole crew is certified, someone is always near enough to act.

Why Train the Whole Crew Together?

Group training puts everyone through the same session, so your crew learns the same steps and practises them together. That makes it easier to respond as a team. One person calls 911, another starts CPR, and a third gets the AED.

It is also simpler to manage. One booking covers the crew, and your team’s certifications stay on the same track.

How Does Onsite Training Work for Burlington Builders?

We come to you. Heart Starters Inc. doesn’t run a fixed training location. Our instructors train your team at your workplace, whether that’s a jobsite, a yard office or a boardroom. Everyone completes CPR AED Level C, and we can pair it with first aid training based on what your workplace requires.

WSIB Requirements for Construction Workplaces

Ontario’s first aid requirements depend on how many workers are on shift.

Workers Per Shift

Training Needed

1 to 5

Basic (Emergency) First Aid with CPR AED Level C

6 or more

Intermediate (Standard) First Aid with CPR AED Level C

Coverage is required for each shift and for each separate work location. If you run two sites, each one needs its own qualified first aider on every shift.

Do not confuse the two numbers. The 1-5 and 6+ brackets describe how many workers you have on shift. The 10-person minimum is the smallest group we train in a single session.

A common mistake is assuming that fewer people means lighter requirements. Higher-risk classification means a more rigorous ratio, even with fewer people. Industries such as construction or food processing must consider that they may need higher coverage compared to a lower-risk office with the same number of people.

FAQs

How many people do we need for CPR training for construction companies?

At Heart Starters Inc., we have a minimum threshold of 10 people per session. This is our training size, and it is separate from the number of workers your workplace must have first aid coverage for.

Can the construction crew be trained on the job site?

Yes. We travel to your site, yard, or office, since we don’t have a fixed training location. Our instructors train your team wherever you work.

Is your training WSIB-approved?

Yes, our training is WSIB-approved, so you can count it toward your workplace first aid requirements.

How many first aiders does my construction crew need?

It depends on how many workers are on each shift. With 1 to 5 workers, you need Basic (Emergency) First Aid with CPR AED Level C. With 6 or more, you need Intermediate (Standard) First Aid with CPR AED Level C. Coverage applies to every shift and every separate work location.

Do I need CPR and first aid separately?

Not usually. The vast majority of employers require certification in both, and both are provided within one course, since CPR AED Level C is included in the Intermediate (Standard) and Basic (Emergency) First Aid courses.
